Upcoming Changes to Health and Safety Legislation

March 2018 will see ISO launch a new framework to maximise employee safety, minimise workplace risks, while also creating a better and safer working environment for both employees and employers. The ISO 45001 is set to replace the existing OHSAS 18001 and AS/NZ 4801 as the international standard in workplace health and safety. This system is set to follow a similar high level, structured approach to other ISO Management Systems such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

This new standard will allow for a better methodology for:

  • Increased contributions and involvement by both workers and managerial staff.
  • An increased level of control over all associated risks for both the employee and employer.
  • Advanced pathways for managing legal documentation and expectations.
  • Increased monitoring and measuring of both on-site and off-site processes.
  • Better methods for controlling, minimizing and/or eliminating operational risk factors

And much more…

The ISO 45001 is set to be applicable to all organisations regardless of size, industry and culture. All requirements are intended to be integrated into an organisation’s own management processes.

MAUS is currently undergoing our draft stages of re-writing our current Health & Safety manuals to align with the new ISO Standards. For more information about the update, click the downloadable pdf below:
