Remembering Peter Christman

Maus Remembers Peter Christman, an Exit Planning Legend

Peter Christman was a foundational pillar in the exit planning community and a co-founder of the Exit Planning Institute (EPI). His visionary contributions to the industry and advisory at large have left a lasting legacy that will act as a guiding light for generations to come.

A Visionary in Exit Planning

Peter Christman recognized early on that many business owners were unprepared for life after selling their businesses. “Advisors were working in silos,” he observed. Determined to bridge these divides, he co-founded the Exit Planning Institute in 2005 with Richard Jackim. The plan was to provide a holistic approach to exit planning that integrated personal, business, and financial considerations.

The Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) program was later launched to better equip advisors with comprehensive exit planning knowledge.1

A Legacy of Excellence

Peter was not just a leader but a trailblazer. As Founder and CEO of the Christman Group – Value Enhancement Inc., he set industry benchmarks and co-authored seminal texts like “The Master Plan” and “The Ten Trillion Opportunity.” His work at EPI was a relentless pursuit to enhance productivity and well-being, shaping EPI into a leading authority in exit planning, and helping to establish the field of exit planning as a highly respected and valued industry.1

Synergy with Maus Software

Peter Christman’s vision found an ally in Peter Hickey, Founder of Maus Software. Their collaboration merged educational frameworks with practical technological tools, advancing the field of exit planning.

Remembering Peter Christman

Peter’s advice to CEPAs was simple yet profound: “Sit with business owners, ask questions, and simply listen.” Looking ahead, he envisioned CEPA as a profession esteemed alongside CPAs and lawyers.1

Peter Christman will be deeply missed. His legacy continues to inspire and guide us. View the last video from Peter here.
